Compression level
Pick before you startQuality stays great on phones & laptops. Full HD at a smart bitrate. The sweet spot for sharing, uploading and archiving.
How much can you compress
before quality suffers?
Compression always trades a little detail for size. Here's where the line sits, so you can pick with confidence.
Light
30–50% smaller
No visible quality loss
Original resolution, high quality. The safest choice when the video will be edited or posted.
Original resolution
Balanced
Best50–75% smaller
Quality stays great on phones & laptops
Full HD at a smart bitrate. The sweet spot for sharing, uploading and archiving.
Up to 1080p
Strong
70–90% smaller
Slight softness on big screens
720p HD. Fine on a phone — ideal for WhatsApp, email and messaging apps.
Up to 720p
Tiny
85–95% smaller
Visibly softer — for previews only
480p at a low bitrate. Great for drafts, previews and very slow connections.
Up to 480p
Rule of thumb
- Posting or editing later?Stay on Light or Balanced — you won't see a difference.
- Sending in a chat or email? Strong is the sweet spot — small, still sharp on a phone.
- Just need a preview? Tiny — but expect visible softness on a big screen.
- Compress your original, not an already-compressed copy — every re-encode loses a little more detail.

Video Compressor FAQ
Is the Febler video compressor really free?
Yes. It's free with no watermark, no sign-up and no limit on how many videos you compress or how big they are. Febler doesn't cap it — the only ceiling is your own device's memory.
Are my videos uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything runs inside your browser using WebCodecs and the open-source Mediabunny library. Your video is read from your device, compressed on your device, and saved back to your device — it never touches a Febler server.
Which compression level should I pick without ruining quality?
Light and Balanced are the safe choices: Light keeps your original resolution and Balanced caps at Full HD, and on phones and laptops both look virtually identical to the original. Strong (720p) is perfect for WhatsApp, email and messaging. Tiny (480p) is visibly softer — use it for previews and drafts only.
How much smaller will my video get?
It depends on the footage. Typical ranges are 30–50% smaller for Light, 50–75% for Balanced, 70–90% for Strong and 85–95% for Tiny. Phone recordings, screen recordings and high-bitrate camera footage shrink the most; files that are already heavily compressed shrink less.
Why is my compressed video sometimes not smaller?
If a video was already compressed hard (for example downloaded from social media), re-encoding can't squeeze much more out of it. Febler tells you when that happens — try a stronger level or keep the original.
Which video formats are supported?
MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV and MPEG-TS (.ts / .mts / .m2ts) — including files with AC-3 audio. Files are saved as MP4 (H.264 where your browser supports it), which plays almost everywhere.
Can I compress multiple videos at once?
Yes. Add as many videos as you like. Febler compresses them one after another (which keeps your browser fast), shows live progress for each, and lets you download them individually or all together.
What will the output file be called?
Your original name plus “-febler-ai-compressed”, saved as .mp4 — for example holiday-clip.mov becomes holiday-clip-febler-ai-compressed.mp4 — so you never overwrite the original.
Is it slow on big files or my phone?
Speed depends on your device. Laptops with hardware video encoding are quickest; recent phones work fine too. Keep the tab open (and your screen awake on mobile) while compressing. For multi-gigabyte files, a desktop browser is best.
Which browsers work?
The latest Chrome and Edge give the best results. Safari and Firefox work on versions that support WebCodecs. If your browser can't compress, the page will tell you.
Does compression keep audio and subtitles?
It keeps the main video and main audio track. Extra tracks such as subtitle streams and alternate audio languages are dropped to keep the file small.
